The Birth of Amazing Lab: A Journey of Inspiration and Innovation

Welcome to Amazing Lab, where innovation and collaboration converge to empower hardware startups. As we embark on this exciting journey of launching our website, we'd like to share the inspiring founding story behind Amazing Lab.

It all began when our co-founders, Ami Sin, and Kevin Ko, crossed paths many moons ago. Ami was managing a tooling and die-cast manufacturing company, deeply immersed in new product development projects. On the other hand, Kevin managed a couple of product development studios across Asia for an international design consulting firm, overseeing projects with a global reach. Both had amassed years of experience in their respective fields, and their encounters sparked conversations about improving the existing work models.

Amidst these discussions, one prevailing theme emerged—the traditional methods used in their industries were tailored for corporate giants, leaving startups facing numerous challenges. They faced daunting hurdles, from prohibitive upfront consulting costs to the scarcity of accessible resources and information to kickstart product development, for which they often have no or little prior experience. There has also been a huge communication and knowledge gap between design and manufacturing that these startups do not know how to and have little resources to bridge, not to mention an integrated platform for them to work and manage the numerous intertwined product development and product launches involved.

Ami and Kevin recognized that the key to addressing these challenges lay in revolutionizing how startups communicated and collaborated. In an era where the new generation of startups heavily relies on internet resources, they saw an opportunity to bridge the gap. They knew that startups needed more upfront costs associated with traditional methods; at the same time, they did not provide the necessary efficiency to meet time-to-market requirements.

With this vision in mind, Amazing Lab was born. Ami and Kevin set out to create a platform to provide startups with easy access to resources and information. Their approach was different—they wanted to foster a sense of community where collaboration and mentorship took precedence over quoting and billing.
